Horns by Joe Hill

HornsFor challenge B: A book with a one word title I chose Horns by Joe Hill. A book quite unlike any other I have ever read, Horns had me hooked from the beginning. A story set in the lush ferny forests of the pacific northwest I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic for my time there as a child. Horns is laced with supernatural elements and real life issues I could relate to. The main character Ig is nothing special, but you can’t help but be fascinated with his predicament. Being accused of murdering his first and long-time girlfriend he suddenly grows horns and gains certain powers. One of the books more interesting themes is the status of the Devil as an anti-hero, punishing sinners eternally. Pick up this book if you want something that you will ponder for a while and want to read again.
