Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok

Girl in Translation is a novel about a girl and her mother who are immigrants from China who move to New York City. The story shows how the girl overcomes their poverty by studying hard. The book shows the gritty truth about living on very little and in a terrible apartment. This summary does not really do the book justice as I found the novel to be a very engaging read.
