I’ve been a fan of Michelle Moran’s for awhile and The Second Empress: A Novel of Napoleon’s Court did not disappoint. Once again, Moran has taken historical facts and woven them into a beautiful story. Although starting the book was difficult due to multiple characters with similar names and changing perspectives, the reader quickly gets lost in the book. With a small one at home I generally don’t have a lot of time to sit and read, and even so this book was a quick read.
