The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

This novel is written as a series of letters between an author, her friend, her publisher and members of the title society during post WWII London and the Channel Islands. It is a moving and entertaining read. The storyline describes the German occupation of Guernsey during the war, the hardships endured and the beautiful friendships and support that arose among neighbors and even some German soldiers during this time. While I had a little trouble in the beginning getting used to the format being letters, I was quickly engaged and found it to be a quick and enjoyable read.
