Sandman: Preludes & Nocturnes by Neil Gaiman

Sandman is often cited as one of the best representations of the potential behind graphic novels. This first volume is both an introduction to the world and character of Sandman, also known as dream, Morpheus, and a thousand other titles. Gaiman has built a fascinating universe here with depth aplenty to explore. The one ding is that the art style is somewhat dated in my copy. There is an updated version with new coloring that may improve things. [Issues #1-8]
